I am delighted to report another very successful examination season in St. Cecilia's with 90% of our year 12 students having achieved 5 + A* - C grades in their GCSEs.
This year 62% of our year 12 students achieved A* to C grades in GCSE mathematics. This is all the more impressive when you learn that the N Ireland average for mathematics is 52%. Our English results have shown an impressive 7% increase with 65% of our students achieving A* - C grades.
We continue to enjoy fantastic success in our other STEM subjects with 100% of girls studying GCSE double award science achieving A*- C grades. Students here excel in every aspect of the curriculum: Irish, Music, Dance, Childcare, Customer Services, Personal Development and Employability all achieved a 100% pass rate at grades A* - C whilst over 90% of students achieved grade A* - C in Technology, English literature and Art.
At A’ level our students achieved top grades right across every subject area. ICT, Irish and chemistry recorded a 100% pass rate at grades A* to C whilst 50% of all grades in ICT were Distinction*, 1/3 of all grades in hospitality were Distinction*, and 1/3 of all grades in travel and tourism were Distinction or Distinction *.
Our girls even achieved success in their enrichment activities with 24 of our 6th year students completing their level one in Mandarin!
